I love the story of that small man David knocking out that great big giant. It is very inspiring and empowering to recall how the big bad guy fell at the hands of the man of God. One swing and he was down and out……!
Now interpret that into a spiritual story and here’s what happens. Considering that we wrestle not against flesh and blood and the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, we truly battle in the spirit. Here are some of the dark giants I’ve seen trying to control the people of God: depression, fear, anger, threats of physical violence, adultery, fornication just to name a few.
This morning I woke up in battle mode grabbed my rock (prayer), put it in a sling (on my knees) and began to stomp around knocking out every demonic force that came close. Sometimes you have to go into the trenches laboring for what is going on in our world. Do not be deceived ~ the enemies of our souls are real. But greater is He that is in me, than he that is in this world. I am more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. The battle is not yours ~ it’s the Lord’s. The victory has already been won. Stand in the power of HIS might.

When the storms of life surround us, as they sometimes will. Isn’t it good to know that even the wind and the waves obey the voice of God? No man or woman can hinder what God is doing on the earth. Everything must bow to Him!
Recently I ministered to a young woman who was at the end of her rope, and sounded almost suicidal. The best advice I could give her was to stop listening to those lying voices in her head and to BE STILL. When the storms of life are raging and the billows roll – we must know that our God will hide us. He is completely our refuge and our strength.
Some days are more challenging than others – yet when we shift our thinking from the things on this earth – to heavenly things – we become calm. Our thoughts need to be focused on the great and mighty the King of Glory. “May He be pleased by all these thoughts about Him, for He is the source of all my joy.” Psalm 104:34

After having a conversation with a young woman whose husband is suffering from PTSD – we both realized that her potentially near-death experiences were all designed as preparation for the ministry. She lost every thing she had and almost lost her children in this battle, yet her strength is overwhelmingly encouraging. She is standing tall after her storm ended. She now has been sent her first survivor to walk through that valley hand-in-hand, showing her the way out.
As she shared her journey of abuse, domestic violence and stalking – I could not stop thinking about how powerful her testimony was. The thoughts of people struggling to survive in the same dangerous situations loomed in my mind. Her tender heart was being used to build a bridge for others to cross over – into a new land.
When life seems impossible – remember nothing is too hard for our God. Stay the path people, is doesn’t matter what your eyes may see – God is always building our victorious future. Be encouraged today as we pick up our cross of suffering – we follow the steps of the Lord and we win in the end.

When Jesus told those closest to him to “watch and pray” while He slipped away to pray alone He meant just what he told them to do. However the disciples were human and apparently tired from the pace of keeping up with the Lord – they went to sleep. He told them that so they would not fall into temptation and I’m sure that same principle applies to us today.
Watch and pray has taken on a new meaning for me lately as I see so many reasons to pray in the midst of life happening. Yesterday while working on a project for a nonprofit that generously gives to families in need – I witnessed snakes crawling around, mean people arguing and evil works in that place. As I watched all that happening, I knew God wanted me to pray. So I slipped away and began to do as instructed. Pray for that lady who is insecure and tries to stir up strife, pray for that woman whose feelings just got hurt by what a mean person said to her, pray for that young man who is struggling and needs attention; pray for their souls. If you and I would take a moment and look around us each day – we will find that there are many things going on that we can pray about.
Laboring for God’s harvest is truly a full time job. Each day we get the opportunity to do kingdom building tasks that can make a difference for eternity. Don’t miss the chance to pray for those in our world – because prayer really does change things! Be blessed…….

Your eyes saw me when I was formless. Before my mother or father looked into my face – You knew who I was. All my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began. Really?!
Everything on earth is orchestrated in heaven and we are all a part of a Master plan. Psalms 139:16 says “you saw me before I was born. The days allotted to me had all been recorded in your book, before any of them ever began.” What an incredible statement to realize.
Each day we get to choose to follow “through” and “follow-up” on the Master’s plan. If you’re not sure what that plan is……. just ask Him. Whose plan are you working?

Despite what we have faced in this life – we get the opportunity to start anew each day. There are no two days that are the same and that means every single time we wake up – we have the chance to start fresh. Let’s not carry over bad stuff from the past day – let’s strive to forgive and forget, move past our challenges and walk in freedom.
A young lady that I am mentoring has been through a terrible relationship of physical abuse and has now left that behind. In her struggle to find the new life she has had many tears, and nights of feeling worthless and displaced. Now that she has entered into her “new life” she has been faced with so many overwhelming matters that she is once again broken and wants to give up. Having the testify in court about the violence has been the last straw for her – or so she thought.
Prayer really does change things. When the day for her to testify arrived we prayed that the judge would have mercy and not make her look at those pictures of herself. She did not want to re-live that. All of a sudden the judge called her into his chambers and released her saying that he could see on her face that she didn’t want to do this and she didn’t have to. God showed her the power of His favor in her worst situation. Now she can breathe the fresh air of her new life with confidence and peace. Amazing things happen when we believe!

Times will come when we feel like we are hanging on by a wing and a prayer. Chances are those moments precede a breakthrough. It’s what we do during those times that make all the difference. Prayer is the power tool and holding on is imperative. You could be only one prayer away from what is to come.
There are several people around me pressed on every side with issues of divorce, child custody, pending diagnoses, incarcerated family members, to name a few. All the advice in the world won’t change what they are facing, yet they need encouragement to keep going regardless. I thank God for the hope that is found in Christ Jesus. There is nothing more comforting for us to do, than to trust and wait for His final word.
When life seems to go from bad to worse………… we can only hold on to our faith. Things will get brighter. Better days are ahead. Remember you could be only one prayer away, don’t waste the day in worry ………….!
